"Kids In The Kitchen" Vacation Bible School

June 16-20, 2014

"Kids in the Kitchen" was a great success!  We had between 17-20 kids each day and it was a blast!  Their days were filled with fun songs; guest speakers from the city; stories from the Wild West by Grandpa Darvin; classes with Bible lessons; cooking projects, crafts and games.  Our guest speakers were a police officer (personal safety); a pediatrician (staying healthy); a firefighter (fire safety); City of Mt. Pleasant Director of Community Services (facts about the city and how we can help our city); and a couple of paramedics (dealing with medical emergencies).  Everyone enjoyed the presentations, but their favorite activities were going outside to look at the police car, the fire truck and the ambulance!  The police officer even let the kids push buttons to turn on the lights and sirens!  Grandpa Darvin delighted everyone with tales of his days in the Forest Service in the northwest and the harrowing experiences he's been through.  It's very obvious his guardian angel has done double-time keeping him safe!  The kids cooked vegetarian pizza buns, soups, sandwich spreads, homemade bread and casseroles.  They then got to eat their cooking project for lunch! Our week ended with a special Sabbath School program. Lynne Barrett gave an overview of the week, the kids sang songs they'd learned and we watched a slide show of pictures from the week.  God blessed our VBS program and we pray this is something the kids will always remember.
